In recent years, Gabby Hrinda has faced obstacles that most people never endure. On September 1, 2012, Gabby suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Through the God given talents of many doctors, nurses and therapists, Gabby returned to school in December of 2012 with the St. Anthony program at Mary of Nazareth in White Oak, Pennsylvania.
Despite these setbacks, Gabby found the resiliency to meet every daily challenge with a smile and positive attitude. Her family is grateful to have found that St. Anthony's enables Gabby to continue her Catholic education while getting the extra support she needs to continue her academic studies and pursue extracurricular activities.
Gabby participates in many activities. Gabby sings in the choir at church, she is an altar server and at school she is in Drama Club. She is running on the cross-country team. Gabby's favorite classes at school are art, music and social studies. St. Anthony has provided Gabby with the opportunity to achieve success in her academics without sacrificing her school experience.
Gabby is a caring big sister to her siblings and is always the first student to volunteer to help any student or teacher at school. Gabby is full of life, love and is an inspiration to all who know her. She is the embodiment of allowing God's grace to surround and care for her. Gabby and her family are members of St. Angel Merici Parish and Gabby was a nominee for Outstanding Catholic Student in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
